Patient self-checkin settings Administrators only

To reduce the pressure on your reception team, patients can check into appointments using self-checkin codes sent by Hugo Systems.

Administrators can manage self-checkins by doing the following:

  • logging in
  • clicking on the button containing their initials in the top right of the page
  • clicking Settings
  • clicking Patient self-checkins from the navigation under the Appointment settings section
  • clicking Edit next to the page’s heading

Allowing patients to self-checkin

Once self-checkins are enabled, a Patient self-checkin link will be visible on the settings page. This is your organisation’s self-checkin link to allow patients to self-checkin.

We recommend doing the following:

  • provide a dedicated tablet, phone, or computer to your patients as they enter your practice
  • open a web browser on the device, and visit the link shown on your settings page

This link will allow patients to check-in to appointments whether the device is logged into Hugo Systems or not. We advise logging out of Hugo Systems on devices where patients will be checking-in, however.

Appointment check-in messages

Some appointments may require patients to follow instructions that are different from other appointments once they have checked-in.

Appointment checkin messages can be configured to provide additional information to patients depending on the type of appointment they are visiting your practice for.

On the settings page, scroll down to the Appointment check-in messages section, where new messages can be added, or existing messages can be edited.
