Lab orders

Lab orders allow for sending instructions to your lab team to fulfill, such as creating moulds, printing appliances, or any other tasks that you may require.

Lab orders are shown on a patient’s timeline in the order they were created, and can also be accessed via the Lab manager link in the primary navigation.

To view the lab orders associated with a specific patient:

Lab orders can be viewed either for your entire practice, or for a specific patient.

To find lab orders for a specific patient:

Each item in the list of lab orders will have a dot menu allowing for the following:

The status of a lab order can be set from the Lab manager page.

Adding a lab order

To add a new lab order:

  • navigate to a patient’s profile
    • to add via an apponitment:
      • click on Appointments in the sidebar
      • click the dot menu on the right of an appointment, and then click Add lab order
    • to add via the patient’s sidebar:
      • click on Lab orders in the sidebar on the right of the page
      • click Add lab order alongside the page’s heading
  • enter relevant information into the form
  • optionally select labels to assign to the lab order
  • click Save

The image added to the lab order will be available in the patient’s files.

Viewing a lab order

Once a lab order has been created, it can be visited by clicking on the title of the item on patient’s lab orders list page, or the lab manager page.

The same actions in the dot menu on the patient’s lab orders list page are available on the lab order’s page.

Editing a lab order

To edit a lab order:

  • navigate to the patient’s lab orders page
  • find the relevant lab order
  • click the dot menu on the right of the lab order, and then click Edit lab order
  • enter any information in the relevant fields in the form
  • click Save

Editing a lab order’s status

A lab order can be in one of a number of states, depending on whether your lab team has begun processing it, or whether the work has been completed.

To edit the status or other details for a lab order:

  • navigate to the patient’s lab orders page
  • find the relevant lab order, and click on it’s title
  • find the Status field, and click on the button next to it
  • select the status to set the lab order to

A history of changes to the status can be viewed at the bottom of the page

Printing stickers

Stickers can be printed for lab orders. Once the relevant lab order is found, click on the dot menu on the right of the lab order, and then click Print stickers.

The following options are available from the Print stickers page:

  • printing retainer box stickers
    • click on the View retainer box sticker button
    • use the Print feature of your web browser to print the stickers
  • printing a series of aligner stickers
    • specify the starting aligner number
    • specify the number of stickers to print
    • click View aligner stickers
    • use the Print feature of your web browser to print the stickers

Patient collection

Lab orders may need to be collected by patients. To send an email to a patient:

  • find the relevant lab order, either from the patient’s lab orders, or from the Lab manager page
  • click on the dot menu for the lab order
  • click Notify patient to collect
  • confirm that you would like the email to be sent

The patient will receive an email notifying them to collect the lab order

Archiving a lab order

A lab order may be archived if it is no longer needed.

To archive a lab order:

  • navigate to the patient’s lab orders page
  • click the dot menu on the right the lab order, and then click Archive lab order

Lab orders may be restored from being archived by following the same instructions, and selecting the Restore lab order option

Annotating images

Images can be annotated on lab orders. This is done in the same manner as for entries - please see that page for instructions on working with annotated images.
