Treatment posts

Treatment posts allow for adding treatment information for a patient. They are shown on a patient’s timeline in the order they were created.

Viewing a patient’s treatment posts

To view a patient’s treatment posts:

Treatment posts can be edited, downloaded, or sent to the patient.

Adding a treatment post

There are two ways to add a treatment post:

Adding a treatment post via the patient’s treatment posts page

To add a new treatment post:

Once created, the treatment post will be shown on the patient’s treatment posts list page, as well as on the timeline.

An annotated image added to a treatment post will be available in the patient’s files.

Setting the duration of treatment

The duration of a patient’s treatment can be set with the Treatment time until now (in months) field on the form.

For new patients, or patients who are starting a new treatment, the value can be set to 0.

For patients who are returning for ongoing treatment, the value of the field will be automatically calculated by the following rules:

  • if there are no previous treatment posts with a value set for this field, no value will be calculated
  • otherwise, the most recent treatment post with a value will be used, where the sum of the following values will be calculated:
    • the value of the Treatment time until now (in months) field of that treatment post
    • the difference in time since that treatment post was created, and the current date

The treatment post that was used for the calculation will be shown in the menu near to the Treatment time until now (in months) field, labelled Calculate the treatment time from another treatment post.

This menu allows for any applicable treatment posts to be selected to calculate the duration of treatment from.

If the calculated value is not satisfactory, feel free to enter a value into the field directly.

Adding wires

Once an administrator has added orthodontic wires for your practice, these wires can be added to treatment posts.

To add a wire to a treatment post from the treatment post form:

  • click the Add wires button
  • click on the relevant wires to add to the treatment post

A list of items will grow above the button as more are added.

To remove wires, click the relevant items in the list above the Add wires button.

To make it simpler to determine which wires were previously used, the form allows for selecting a previous treatment post to populate the current treatment post.

From the menu labelled Apply wire values from another treatment post, select a treatment post where wires were previously set.

The wires from the selected treatment post will replace any existing wires on the form.

If the values from the selected treatment post are not satisfactory, feel free to select a different treatment post, or select wire values directly.

Adding a treatment post via a patient’s appointment

A different workflow is available where a treatment post can be created against an appointment. With this workflow an appointment can be marked as complete, an email can be sent to the patient with the treatment post’s details, and a WhatsApp reminder to book the next appointment can be sent in a single step once the treatment post has been created.

To use this workflow:

You will be taken to a page with the following buttons:

  • Create / edit treatment post
  • Add elastics image
  • Add invoice

Below these buttons a form will be shown that will perform a few actions once submitted. Before being able to submit this form, however, a treatment post must be associated with the appointment that was selected - this can be done using the first Create / edit treatment post button on the page.

The workflow for editing the form is the same as when creating a treatment post.

Once created, the form below the buttons will be become active with a list of options:

  • mark appointment as complete
    • if the treatment post is associated with an appointment, checking this item will mark the associated appointment as completed - see the appointments page for more information on appointment statuses
  • send WhatsApp reminder to book next appointment
    • if details for the next appointment were added to the treatment post, and this item is checked, a WhatsApp reminder will be sent to the patient reminding them to book their next appointment
  • send treatment post email to patient

Sending a treatment post to a patient

Treatment posts can be emailed to patients from the timeline the timeline or the patient’s treatment posts list page.

On either of these pages:

  • find the relevant treatment post
  • click Expand to expand the treatment post’s content
  • click on the dot menu
  • click Email to patient
  • confirm that you want to send the treatment post to the patient

The patient will receive an email containing the information in the treatment post, a link to the attendance letter if the treatment post is associated with an appointment, as well as any non-internal files associated with the treatment post.

Annotating images

In addition to uploading files to a treatment post, it can be useful to annotate images.

Annotating images on treatment posts is done in the same manner as for entries - please see that page for instructions on working with annotated images.
